Writing a Goldcard.img for the HD2

Freshly formatted FAT32 2gb sandisk sd card
Phone connected and running, activesync connection.
Run PSAS, click
'Hardware Forensics' - 'WINCE SD Card Utils' - 'Get SD Serial and Disk ID'

The long number is your SD card unique ID. Some people have reported that replacing the first two digits with 00 gives better results. Worked for me without making the change.

Create the Goldcard by either finding someone to make you one, or buy the full version of PSAS and make your own.

Put the phone into Hard Disk mode and reconnect to USB.

Get HxD Hex Editor, open the goldcard.img, and then 'Extras - Open Disk' and find your 'Removeable Disk' in the Physical Disks section.

Jump to the goldcard.img tab, ctrl A, ctrl C, jump to the removeable disk tab, highlight offset 00000000 to 000000170 inclusive, and then Edit - Paste write

Hit save, and ok the warning about directly writing to the sd card.

Done, the card is now Gold. Drop a .nbh file on there from whatever official rom you are trying to flash, enter bootloader and it should flash.

Adding custom words and sentences to suggested words list.

posted by samsamuel @ 11:05pm, Wednesday 28 July 2010.

To add your own custom words, you can use the et9mywords.exe app on your phone, but
1 - it doesnt save after a reset, and
2 - you can't use spaces, so single words only, no phrases or sentences.

You can however manually add your own words AND full sentences to

windows/HTCMDB.txt on your phone.

If you are cooking, just find the file, make it writeable, add your words and sentences, save, make read only, and cook your rom.

To add them without cooking, find /windows/HTCMDB.txt (it will be hidden, so show all files)
copy it to your sd card, and from there to your desktop.
(I tried editing it on the phone using windows mobile notepad, but it didnt work right)
On the PC, right click the file, and untick 'read only', apply.
Open it and edit it as required.
Save it, and again right click, re apply 'read only'
Copy back to your sd card, and from teh phone use commander or resco to move it to /windows/
You will probably get a warning about rom files and what not, thats ok.
Reboot, and you should now be able to see your sentences.
